Clear aligners or traditional braces from our dentists at Border Country Dental can straighten teeth and address jaw misalignment issues in teens and adults.
Transform Your Smile with Orthodontic Treatment
Orthodontic treatment can help you achieve a straighter, more symmetrical smile. It can also help improve bite alignment, correct dental function, and sometimes address facial imbalances. When teeth are aligned properly, daily oral hygiene becomes more effective and boosts confidence.
At Border Country Dental, we use 3D scanning technology to create precise treatment plans and avoid the need to use impression materials. Whether you opt for traditional metal braces, discreet ceramic alternatives, or clear aligners, our team will develop a personalized treatment strategy tailored to your lifestyle and unique requirements.
Your Orthodontic Journey, Reimagined
At Border Country Dental, our goal is to collaborate with our patients to help them work towards the healthy, aesthetically pleasing smile they will be proud to show off.
Scheduling a consultation is the first step on your journey. During your first appointment, your dentist will address any concerns about your smile and discuss available treatment options that work for your specific needs.
The Treatment Process
It's important to consider that every smile is different, meaning no two orthodontic treatments are the same. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your needs during the initial consultation.
-
Active Phase
While you are receiving your orthodontic treatment with braces, you'll come to our office for regular adjustment appointments (typically every three weeks or so). Elastics and/or wires will be adjusted during these appointments.
During braces treatment, you'll also need to avoid certain foods if you are wearing braces. Continue your excellent dental hygiene practices and keep up with at-home care to ensure you stay on track with treatment and ensure your teeth are straightened as scheduled.
If you are being treated with clear aligners, you will visit our office periodically for checkups so we can ensure that your treatment is on track. You will also need to brush and floss your teeth before returning your clear aligners to your mouth after eating. You will switch out your aligners to the next set in your series based on the schedule provided by your dentist.
Specific instructions based on your orthodontic treatment will be provided to you. Bring any questions or concerns you may have to your appointments. We can help you understand the treatment process.
-
Planning Phase
In the planning phase of orthodontic treatment, we review your unique needs in detail and set up a plan for treatment with braces or SureSmile Clear Aligners.
Your first appointments may include:- An evaluation of your medical and dental history
- Taking "molds" or impressions of your teeth
- X-Rays of the teeth and jaws
- A CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scan
After these preliminary steps are completed, we will then design your treatment plan customized for your orthodontics of choice: braces or custom-made SureSmile Clear Aligners.
-
Retention Phase
Once you've completed active treatment with braces or clear aligners, you will move into a post-treatment phase with retainers.
Typically, removable retainers help to maintain the changes we made to the positioning of your teeth during active treatment.
You'll need to wear your retainer as directed by your dentist to help stabilize your teeth in their new positions while the surrounding bone regrows and stabilizes.
The duration of your treatment time with braces or clear aligners and a retainer will vary depending on your specific circumstances and factors.
Orthodontics for Children
Children are recommended to have their first orthodontic checkup around the age of seven. Early detection can help address or plan for orthodontic concerns.
We will keep tracking their growth and development in cases where immediate treatment isn't necessary. This ongoing monitoring enables us to provide informed guidance on the optimal starting point for any future treatment.
For Our Adult Patients
There is no age restriction on a straight and healthy smile. Orthodontic treatment has increased in popularity among adults.
Orthodontic treatment has become increasingly popular with adults, as there is no age restriction for wanting to achieve a healthy, straight smile.
For those who previously avoided treatment due to the look of traditional braces, clear aligners offer a more discreet option using clear materials. Schedule a free consultation to find out if you are an ideal candidate for clear aligners.
